Degradation of Mtbe Using Fenton Reagent

195 INTRODUCTION In an attempt to reduce the environmental consequences associated with incomplete fuel combustion, the US Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990, required that oxygenates are added to reformulated gasoline. Since 1979, methyl tert butyl ether (MTBE) has been used in the USA as an octane enhancing replacement for lead, primarily in mid and high grade gasoline. It is the most commonly ...

Diesel Degradation in Soil by Fenton Process

Degradation of carbofuran-contaminated water by the Fenton process.

In this study, the Fenton process was applied for the degradation of carbofuran from aqueous system. Batch experiments were conducted at two different carbofuran concentrations i.e., 10 and 50 mg/L, and at pH 3. Batch experiments at each carbofuran concentration were designed by central composite design (CCD) with two independent variables i.e. Fe2+ and H2O2. Experimental results indicate that ...

Formaldehyde degradation by catalytic oxidation.

Formaldehyde used for the disinfection of a laminar-flow biological safety cabinet was oxidatively degraded by using a catalyst. This technique reduced the formaldehyde concentration in the cabinet from about 5,000 to about 45 mg/m3 in 8 h. This technique should prove useful in other applications.

Bioremediation of Soil Contaminated by Diesel Oil

Were evaluated natural attenuation, biostimulation and bioaugmentation on the degradation of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) in soils contaminated with diesel oil. Bioaugmentation showed the greatest degradation in the light (C12 C23) fractions (72.7%) and heavy (C23 C40) fractions of TPH (75.2%) and natural attenuation was more effective than biostimulation. The greatest dehydrogenase activ...
